FAQs

Do you work with self-published authors?
For many years, yes, we did work with self-published authors. When the industry was younger, media outlets didn’t care so much about whether a book was self-published and it was easier to get attention for self-published books. Nowadays, it’s much more challenging and we have found that the value is just not there. In other words, we are very concerned that our clients derive value from our services. If we don’t feel we can get high quality bookings and reviews for our clients, we will counsel them against hiring us.
There are some situations where self-publishing is justified. Nothing is ever totally black and white. But for the most part, no, we do not work on self-published books.
We start working on titles sometimes over a year before they go on sale. It really is never too early to start with publicity because the more time you have before a book goes on sale, the more opportunities you will have. Another reason to reach out to us earlier rather than later, is that we book up quickly. You might want to put in a placeholder to make sure we are available. Another consideration is that we charge a flat fee for all book publicity campaigns no matter how early we start. The earlier you come to us, the more time we devote to you.
Included in any campaign would be media training to get you fully prepared for interviews, creation of publicity materials, unlimited consultations with us, consults and jackets and titles, and weekly media reports. Added services include arranging book tours, social media pitching, and marketing campaigns. We can also do limited international publicity campaigns upon request.

There is no doubt that we have the widest and deepest experience in media and publishing. Our founder has been in the media and publishing business at the highest levels. We’ve been publishers, publicists, and marketers. Any question you have about how publishing works, we can answer. In a business as opaque as publishing, that can be truly refreshing.
